System shows there is wifi & IP but it doesn't work.

I simply relocated my older MacPro to another room in the house and now no apps recognize any internet connection even though network diagnostics show a strong wireless connection and an active IP address. I've turned wifi off and back on, quit and reopened mail and safari, and rebooted the computer a few times. I always come back with the same thing. How can the system tell me there is wifi and an active IP and none of it works? I have no idea what to do next. Thanks for any advice.

Those two IP addresses are real internal IP address and assigned by a router. However, they are assigned by different routers.

Are you connecting both devices to the same network? That does not seem to be the case.

Try forgetting the network and rejoining. Make sure that you are connecting to the correct network and not one with a similar or even same name.

Also try creating a new network location

The MPro IP shows 192.168.10.253

the iMac I'm on shows 192.168.1.3

There are possible settings that would place those on the same Network, but they are extremely unlikely.

What is the Router address showing an a Mac that is connecting?

I think one of those devices is using a Manual IP Address, and it is set to something rather different from the Router Address, placing it on a Network by itself, unable to communicate. I expect if you set it to get its Address via DHCP, all will be well very quickly.
